Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn's foray into the semiconductor industry has faced challenges, highlighting the difficulty for new players to enter a market dominated by established firms with extensive experience and complex supply chains. Foxconn's joint venture with Indian conglomerate Vedanta to set up a semiconductor and display production plant in India fell through due to deadlocked talks with European chipmaker STMicroelectronics, which was the technology partner for the project.
